Introduction
Recytech was established in 1991 by 2 leaders on the zinc market: Befesa Steel Services & Recylex (each holding 50% of the shares).
As a specialist in the recycling of high zinc-content waste, Recytech operates a fully licensed, classified plant (Seveso), that has been ISO 14 001 certified.
Recytech is a key link in the zinc circular economy, helping to save natural resources by recycling urban mine waste.
In June 2024, BEFESA, Recytech's 50% shareholder, bought out the 50% stake held by RECYLEX, which was in receivership. Since then, Recytech has been 100% owned by the BEFESA group.
BEFESA is a global player in zinc recycling using the WAELZ process. It has one of the only sites in the world producing zinc metal exclusively from recycled zinc. BEFESA is also active in nickel, chromium and aluminum recovery. The BEFESA group has 1,800 employees worldwide and sales of over 1 billion euros.
As part of this takeover and integration, Recytech has changed its corporate name to: Befesa Zinc Recytech
This name change marks a new chapter for the company, but it retains its history, its values, its experienced staff and its strong commitment to the circular economy.
